Roanoke, VA – While folks at the Civic Center are touring the benefits of green living, there is one group who protested at the event Friday.
Blue Ridge Mountain Defenders say they formed the demonstration because they believe wind powered energy is harmful.
The group hails from the Bent Mountain region of Roanoke County where a proposed wind farm is gaining momentum.
“We think industrial wind is the wrong technology for this place. It’s bad for the economy. bad for the community and bad for the people,” said Steve Hanes with Blue Ridge Mountain Defenders.
The group also had a booth inside the Green Living Energy Expo with more information about their concerns.
