Spiddle Hill wind turbine causes concerns

Truro Daily News, www.trurodaily.com 27 October 2011

TRURO – Residents in the vicinity of the Spiddle Hill wind turbine are expressing concern over noise and fears of ice throw.

“The current 800 KW wind turbine is placed very close to some of our residents on Spiddle Hill,” concerned residents said, in a letter to Colchester County council. “It is causing noise disturbances both on our properties and inside some of our residences. We are concerned about possible other effects such as ice throw. We are very concerned about the (site) of the second 800 KW turbine, which is being actively planned.”

The Spiddle Hill turbine went into service earlier this year.”

Concerned residents were planning to make a presentation to council Thursday night.

“It’s a very highly stressful issue for us,” resident Wayne Edgar said during a presentation to council. “So I really do encourage you to take our concerns and consider them carefully.”

The residents asked council to consider a two-kilomtre setback for future turbine settings.
