Citizens ‘blown off’ by Wind Turbine Committee

Credit:  By Cristy Dichmann, Northborough Patch, northborough.patch.com 26 October 2011 ~~

Last month, Jonathan West blogged on Northborough Patch. His post,  Northborough Wind Turbine: A Bone of Contention, claimed that the citizens of Northborough were not asked for their opinion regarding support of a $4.5 million endeavor before the Wind Turbine Committee went ahead and got the project running, pushing for a wind turbine on Ball Hill, three years ago.

This week, West added to the comments on that post mentioning that the Committee has not shown up for their past two posted public meetings, including one scheduled for Oct. 19. He also quotes the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law:

“The Open Meeting Law supports the principle that the democratic process depends on the public having knowledge about the considerations underlying governmental action…” Commenter AG adds, “Once again a sweetheart project of the BOS [Board of Selectmen] of Northborough attains a non-transperance status. Watch out, free money, here come the windmills.”
