Commissioners consider energy zone

The Advertiser-Tribune, www.advertiser-tribune.com 18 October 2011

Seneca County commissioners are to look at two measures, one which could reduce costs and another which could help bring revenue to the county.

During a meeting at 10 a.m. today, commissioners are to consider a resolution setting Seneca County as an Alternative Energy Zone, which would reduce taxes levied on renewable energy generation. Commissioners have been working with Sandusky County commissioners to create the zone as requested by Nordex, a firm proposing a wind farm project near Bellevue involving the two counties.

Commissioners also are to discuss the county’s health insurance. In past meetings commissioners said they have considered instituting flexible spending accounts and other cost-saving measures in the health insurance program.

In another matter, the board is to sit in on bid openings for projects at the Seneca County Engineer’s Office and Seneca County Agency Transportation.

Also, commissioners are to take part in an assement hearing for a Port Authority Group Ditch Project.

In other news, commissioners are to consider:

A supplemental appropriation of $6,130 for the Community Housing Improvement Program Fund.

An appropriation adjustment of $27,475.79 for Delinquent Care and Custody Fund.

A supplemental appropriation of $9,287.88 for the Delinquent Care and Custody Fund.

An appropriation adjustment of $897.81 within the General Fund.

A supplemental appropriation of $500 for the Juvenile Dispute Resolution Fund.

A fund transfer of $36,763.67 to be made to the Delinquent Care and Custody Grant Fund.

An appropriation adjustment of $446 within the General Fund.

Bill vouchers.
