Preliminary decision near on Bourne wind farm

BOURNE – The Cape Cod Commission subcommittee tasked with reviewing the controversial New Generation Wind project could have a decision in the coming weeks.

The group met Thursday to discuss the project, commission regulatory officer Elizabeth Enos said in an email Friday.

Commission staffers anticipate that the subcommittee will make a decision by November whether to recommend the project, she said.

After almost a year of deliberation, in March New Generation Wind backers Tudor “Jerry” Ingersoll and Cape Cod Aggregates owners, the Lorusso family, withdrew their proposal to build seven wind turbines in Bournedale.

They resubmitted the project two weeks later, then whittled it down over the summer to include only five turbines after months of public outcry during commission subcommittee meetings and other public forums.

The subcommittee held its last public meeting on New Generation on Aug. 1 and closed the public comment period on Aug. 9.

After the group makes its final recommendation, the project will head to the full Cape Cod Commission for a final decision.
