QUINCY, ILL. – An Adams County Illinois group that’s wants to see changes in the ordinance that governs wind turbines for the county has submitted another plan to the county board for possible consideration.

The Advocates for Responsible Energy Development presented their letter to the county board on Tuesday night and it includes four points for discussion.

They want to see a greater setback, provide a mile and a half setback for all incorporated towns in Adams County, allow for binding arbitration between individuals and the wind energy companies and require companies to offer property value guarantees to land owners within two miles of a wind turbine.

” If we’re going to have industrial wind turbines out in the county they need to be out away from people’s homes. That’s all we’re really asking for is responsible development. Why should some people have to lose their homes or the value of their property, so other people can gain. We need to make it a win win,” said John Gerhardt, who is a spokesman with Advocates for Responsible Energy Development.
