Still has concerns

The Messenger, www.messengernews.net 12 October 2011

I appreciate Shanelle Evens Montana from enXco, taking the time to write in response to my letter. I found the answers to be somewhat nebulous. She didn’t deny that other states would benefit from this project, only that “Hawkeyes will also benefit.” She also did not answer the question as to how these wind farms affect homeowners, only that there has been an increase in farm land values. Seems like another bubble that is being created by government incentives that will burst someday.

Farming has always been a gamble, and with increasing regulations that border on Howard Hughs paranoia, I certainly do not blame farmers for signing up for extra income. I just hope that this wind project doesn’t become another government boondoggle that someday leaves Webster County with rusty unused windmills, and companies like enXco long gone with their share of taxpayer money.

Governments no matter which party should not be picking winners and losers when it comes to energy, free markets will work if allowed to do so.
