More windfarms could be on their way to the Douglas Valley

Credit:  www.lanarkgazette.co.uk 9 October 2011 ~~

There could be another three windfarms in the Douglas Valley.

Plans for three wind turbine projects have been announced by the Scottish Resources Group (SRG) which will hold consultation events, from the end of October.

The proposals, which are being developed by the group’s renewables division, SRG Renewables, are for turbines on previously mined land owned by SRG, of which Scottish Coal is part.

They consist of a two turbine scheme at the Poniel site, eight turbines at Broken Cross and 15 turbines at Dalquhandy.

An application has already been submitted by Scottish Coal for the extension to the Broken Cross opencast mine, which is now in the hands of South Lanarkshire Council.
