Tiverton wind turbines? No thanks

www.eastbayri.com 6 October 2011

I am one of the people opposed to the wind turbine going into the industrial park. As it is now, I have to look at an ugly tower ruining the landscape of Stafford Pond and it doesn’t need another eyesore such as the wind turbine.

As for the noise, I’m already subjected to the roaring noise of the power plant stack blowing at 2 a.m., scaring the daylights out of my dog and everyone else within earshot. If you add the wind turbine, I might as well close all my windows for the summer and run the air conditioner so I can live quietly.

They are trying to sell everyone a bill of goods by saying they would lower taxes or water bills. Only problem is, most of Tiverton has well water, myself included.

Building the power plant was supposed to lower my taxes too, and that never happened. In fact, my taxes have tripled since purchasing my home in 1989. My quarterly payment is now more than what my annual payment used to be, so excuse me for not believing in the Tiverton Town Council.

Here’s my idea, put it over where the $200,000 condos are that didn’t have to pay taxes at all .
