Appeal hearings have begun against a refusal of planning permission to build wind turbines at Nun Wood, near Harrold.

The process, which is expected to last eight days started on Tuesday at the Harpur Suite, in Bedford.

A number of witnesses are to be called including ecologist Stephen Halliday, and The British Horse Society.

The hearing will also receive written and verbal representations from James Knight of Harrold Parish Council, Sarah Barkwell from the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust and MP for North East Beds Alistair Burt.

At the top table during the hearing will be members of Bozeat and Lavendon Oppose Turbines (BLOT) who are opposed to the turbines being built at the site by developers NPower.

The appeal process will primarily consider the loanscape, appearance and character of the proposal although other factors will be discussed.

The proposed windfarm development at Nun Wood will lay across the three counties of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire and opposers believe it will have a major impact on the areas.
