Antrim selectmen approve special meeting on wind ordinances

The Keene Sentinel, sentinelsource.com 5 October 2011

ANTRIM – Antrim selectmen approved holding a special town meeting on Nov. 8 in a 2-1 decision at Monday night’s meeting.

The town’s planning board requested the special meeting to allow residents to vote on two zoning ordinances the board approved on wind energy facilities, according to Town Administrator Galen A. Stearns.

The board wants residents to vote on the ordinances as soon as possible, Stearns said.

The two ordinances – a large-scale wind facility ordinance, and an ordinance that prohibits wind energy facilities in rural conservation areas most likely will not have any effect on the proposed 10-turbine wind facility for Tuttle Hill, Stearns said.

The project, proposed by Portsmouth-based Eolian Renewable Energy, is under the jurisdiction of the N.H. Site Evaluation Committee, which does not have to follow any town ordinances, Stearns said.
