Antrim ordinance could prompt a special meeting

sentinelsource.com 2 October 2011

ANTRIM – The town’s selectmen will vote at Monday’s meeting on whether they should schedule a special town meeting about the planning board’s large-scale wind facility ordinance proposal.

The proposed ordinance, a more detailed version of drafts that have been circulating since August, was approved 4-2 on Tuesday by the planning board.

The ordinance includes a new article that prohibits any large-scale wind facility in the Rural Conservation District.

The ordinance came as a response to the 10-turbine wind facility for Tuttle Hill, proposed by Eolian Renewable Energy, which is in that district.

The state Site Evaluation Committee took over jurisdiction of the project in June. The committee will begin its deliberations on the issue next year.
