Traffic alert: Huge wind turbines trucked through the Northstate

COTTONWOOD, Calif. – Caltrans issued a traffic alert about large wind turbines being trucked through the Northstate.

The first trucks left Cottonwood early Tuesday morning carrying the large towers that will hold a wind turbine. The tower will stand 360 feet when assembled.

Crews will carry more than 100 parts of the turbines through the Northstate to Solano County. A total of 306 separate truck loads will travel from Nevada, through Burney, Redding, Anderson and Red Bluff to the final destination of Birds Landing.

The shipments will continue for nine weeks. Caltrans said be aware that in Redding, the trucks will travel on State Route 44 into the downtown area, and west on Eureka Way to Buenaventura Boulevard to southbound State Route 273 through Anderson.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution when approaching these trucks.
