Landowners cry foul over road usage

Mark McCoy, Ellsworth County Independent-Reporter, www.indyrepnews.com 23 September 2011

As a result of an alleged dispute involving the Sherman Township board of trustees and access to township land by Wind Capital Group, owner of the Post Rock Wind Farm, work on that portion of the project has been delayed.
At Monday’s meeting of Ellsworth County commissioners, 14 Sherman Township landowners asked for help in dealing with the trustees.
“We don’t have any control over township boards,” Commissioner Terry Kueser said. “We haven’t been contacted by the township board about anything. We don’t know what the issue is.”
Kueser pointed out Sherman Township has been getting funds from an earlier project, the Smoky Hills Wind Farm, for several years.
“I can understand your frustration, but, basically, we don’t have a dog in the fight,” he said. “It’s a public road. They can’t stop people from using the roads.”
