www.thisisdorset.co.uk 21 September 2011

Campaigners against a wind farm at Silton on the Dorset Somerset boundary said they have received news of an impending appeal by green energy firm Ecotricity with little surprise.

Chris Langham, chairman of Save Our Silton, said this week: “We have been fighting this for three years, and obviously we will fight on.”

We knew an appeal was likely and North Dorset District Council has budgeted to fight it.”

Mr Langham has now moved from North Dorset to Purbeck, where another wind farm development is proposed butr said “I can’t fight both of them, so I’ll stick with Silton.”

His treasurer, Brian Trueman, said: “Every democratic body in the area has voted against it, including South Somerset District and Wiltshire councils. We will work with North Dorset District Council, which will fight the appeal.

Ecotricity’s Mike Cheshire, said: “The four graceful windmills would boost the county’s existing green energy resource by almost 50 per cent at a stroke.”
