Wind farm group step up protest with blimp

Louth Leader, www.louthleader.co.uk 17 September 2011

Wind farm action group NOWAG (No Wind Farm at Gayton) launched a blimp on Sunday to show the impact of a proposed development.

Energie Kontor have applied to build eight 115-metre high wind turbines on the land between the villages of Gayton le Marsh, Great Carlton, Theddlethorpe and Saltfleetby.

And the blimp flew on Sunday as the opposers looked to encourage support for their campaign against the turbines.

NOWAG co-ordinator Melvin Grovenor said: “Despite the blustery conditions the day was a resounding success. The blimp could be seen as far away as Rigsby.”

Energie Kontor project manager Richard Hind said: “The thorough environmental surveys and studies of the site, conducted over the last three years, confirm that this open and remote location is ideal for a wind energy project.”
