Pressure group set up website about turbines

Kincardineshire Observer, www.kincardineshireobserver.co.uk 17 September 2011

Concerned residents in Aberdeenshire have set up a website which gives information and advice about wind turbine proposals in the area.

The pressure group Concerned About Wind Turbines (CAWT) has been launched in response to 400 turbines which are currently in the planning stages in Aberdeenshire, with 70 of these being in the Mearns area.

CAWT have set up a website to track the proposals and to give advice on how to respond to the projects.

The home page of the website states: “Concerned About Wind Turbines (CAWT) is a group of Aberdeenshire residents who are concerned about the rapid proliferation of wind turbines in Aberdeenshire. CAWT and the CAWT website are managed part-time and on a voluntary basis.

“The CAWT website collates much of the knowledge and experience gathered by many supporters over the last few years. The CAWT website also aims to highlight inaccuracies and false or dubious claims made by some wind energy developers, particularly in Aberdeenshire.”

The web-site also contains a map which it claims highlights all wind turbine developments in the Aberdeenshire area.
