Wind farm project faces a new roadblock

A controversial wind farm project faces another roadblock in Cattaraugus County.

As News 4 reported last month, the Allegany Town Board approved a project allowing New York-based developer EverPower to build more than two dozen turbines in the town. Tuesday, we learned the group concerned citizens of Cattaraugus County filed an appeal with the zoning board.

Attorney for concerned citizens of Cattaraugus County, Gary Abraham said, “They were supposed to submit a study of impulsive noise. They did not do that. Low frequency and impulsive noise are the most annoying parts of wind farm noise. You would think, with a project like this, they would make an effort to try to show they were not generating annoying noise.”

Opponents say the wind farm will ruin the landscape. Supporters are counting on this project to bring money and jobs to Allegany.
