A central Victorian shire has decided to fight against the State Government’s changes to wind farm planning regulations.
The changes will stop a planned community-owned wind farm being built south of Bendigo.
Mount Alexander Shire Mayor Janet Cropley says the council wants the Government to reconsider its policy.
“The underlying things in the new planning scheme that talk about agreement with neighbours and not within two kilometres of anybody’s house were fine,” she said.
“It’s just a bit of a sense that blanket overlays are really going to disadvantage us in terms of what could be a very big economic development for our shire.”
