Opponent questions planned wind farm site

ABC News, www.abc.net.au 14 September 2011

A group opposed to a planned wind farm six kilometres west of Sedan says the development technically cannot proceed because it is in the Adelaide hills face zone.

Pacific Hydro is hoping to submit a development application later in the year for a wind farm at Keyneton.

Tony Walker from the Eastern Mount Lofty Ranges Landscape Guardians is worried the prospect of financial gain may sway the council’s view.

“It’s a very difficult thing for rural councils to turn their backs on potentially $100,000 a year in community funding,” he said.

“But if you read the act, the actual development regulation for that area, it’s prohibited., it’s non-compliant and shouldn’t even get a guernsey.”

Pacific Hydro has held another community information session about its plan.

General manager Lane Crockett says the proposal has both supporters and opponents.

“Some people, their views are already decided in this matter,” he conceded.
