By Myron Kukla | The Grand Rapids Press, www.mlive.com 8 September 2011

SAUGATUCK TOWNSHIP – The Township Board approved an ordinance that regulates wind energy turbine and towers to agriculture and industrial areas and limits height to 500 feet.

Township Supervisor Bill Wester was the only “no” vote.

“I think they are an eyesore, especially in a beautiful township like ours,” he said before the 3-1 vote.

The regulation also requires that any person installing a wind energy tower must maintain a fund to pay for its removal if it is no longer used.
