AG’s decision is pending on Bourne’s May 9 turbine-bylaw vote

The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office was expected this week to file its decision about the legality of the controversial May 9 Special Town Meeting vote to amend Bourne’s wind-conversion energy bylaw.

The special session was marked by the loss of electric power at Bourne High School. Confusion ensued about continuation of the meeting. A secret ballot vote revised the turbine-review bylaw, but only after some voters left the session, thinking there would be no vote given the lack of electricity.

New Generation Wind last month asked the AG’s office to strike the town meeting decision, and the state requested another month of review to sort out the issue of the revised turbine bylaw.

Town Planner Coreen Moore said a decision is pending.
