Bulldozer operator killed in roll over accident

By Kristofer Noceda, Dublin Patch, dublin.patch.com 29 August 2011

A man working on a wind farm was killed after a bulldozer he was operating rolled on top of him Monday afternoon, said Rob Eaton, Alameda County Fire Department battalion chief.

Shortly after 1 p.m. emergency crews were called to the Vasco Road construction site in Contra Costa County. Cal OSHA and emergency crews from Contra Costa County also responded to the accident.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Eaton said.

The worker was cutting into a mountain side when the bulldozer rolled over to its side, Eaton said.

Officials are investigating how the man was removed from the bulldozer.

“We’re unsure if he was ejected, fell or jumped off the bulldozer,” Eaton said.

KTVU reports the man was working for Minnesota-based Bratner Energy on the Vasco Winds Re-Powering Project, a wind farm off Interstate 580.
