Wind activists protest Roxbury project

by Meghan Hayward, www.wabi.tv 25 August 2011

Norridgewock – Wind activists gathered in Norridgewock Thursday.

They don’t approve of the Roxbury Project. They say wind turbines are destroying the state’s mountains.

They picked Norridgewock because components of the wind turbines were expected to pass through on their way to Roxbury.

They say the 22 turbine project will impose on people.

” There’s landscape and visual problems. This is a scenic state. It’s the last of its kind in the northeast. We’re dismantling the remarkable landscape of this state to put in a low yield energy source.”

They say they hope they brought awareness to folks driving by them Thursday and maybe they will do some more research on the problems associated with wind projects.
