PARIS – The Planning Board has been tasked with developing a wind power resource ordinance and getting a draft to selectmen by Jan. 1, 2012.
At previous meetings, Selectman Jean Smart urged the town to develop regulations before wind power companies express interest in developing projects in town.
Discussion of wind power issues was brief Monday because it didn’t come up until nearly 10:30 p.m.
“Is this the time and place?” Chairman Ted Kurtz asked.
Smart briefly went over the point she raised at the last meeting: “I urge us to turn this over to the Planning Board for their consideration.
“If we do not have some kind of ordinance that regulates those huge turbines, we are vulnerable,” she said. “We will have no recourse if we don’t have a plan in place.”
In the citizens’ comments early in the night, resident Anne Stanley echoed the sentiment.
Selectman Robert Kirchherr moved to send the issue to the Planning Board and the board unanimously agreed.
