MONTPELIER, Vt. – Noisy protests are being staged at Vermont’s capital in an effort to stop the Kingdom Community Wind Project.
85 protestors and the Bread and Puppet troupe have staged protests on the Statehouse’s lawn. The organizers will be presenting letters to Gov. Peter Shumlin critizing his support for the 21 turbine development.
Protestors say Shumlin’s support of the Green Mountain Power project conflicts with Vermonters’ long attachment to the mountains. Protestors further stated Green Mountain Power should not set the state’s energy future.
Shumlin is vacationing in Canada so he will not be meeting with the protesters.
A protest is set for Wednesday afternoon at Green Mountain Power’s headquarters. [See below.]
