Wants answers about wind power

www.messengernews.net 25 August 2011

I have a few questions regarding the wind farm south of Fort Dodge. I have heard that the government (taxpayers actually) is subsidizing wind energy to the tune of $24 a kilowatt, whereas solar is only about 22 cents. Is this true? How do 157 windmills affect property prices, are homeowners able to sell what their property is worth before being surrounded by noisy windmills? I’ve also been told that this electricity will be sent to Wisconsin, so 80,000 homes in Wisconsin will benefit from this windmill farm located in Iowa? No wind in Wisconsin?

I’m all for getting away from foreign oil, but is this the most economical use of taxpayers money? Since wind energy has been around at least since the early 1900s that I know of, if it is really so viable, wouldn’t some entrepreneur wanting to make money have created a wind energy business without taxpayer money long ago?

I hope enXco can answer these questions.
