The proposed Ryan’s Corner and Hawkesdale wind farms in south-west Victoria are in limbo after a Moyne council decision.
The Union Fenosa proposals were granted approval in 2008 but the permits have lapsed because construction has not begun and the council voted this week against an extension.
Planning Minister Matthew Guy returned wind farm planning power to local government earlier this year.
Moyne Mayor Jim Doukas says the Minister has the final say but he must back the council’s decision.
“We’ve decided we’ll no they’ve sat there, done nothing for three years,” he said.
“It’s time they reapplied and that the community will be given a chance to have their say on the issue and that from now on any proponent will be abide by the new guideline.”
