Swindon Honda wind turbines plan reduced

Car company Honda has cut back plans to build wind turbines to power its Swindon plant.
Planning officers had recommended Swindon Borough Council grant permission for three turbines, despite opposition from some residents.
However, an alternative plan will now be submitted for two turbines, rather than the original three.
Ecotricity, who applied for permission with Honda, said the turbine nearest to homes was being removed from the plan.
Opponents have argued the 394ft (120m) high turbines will be too large and noisy.
A statement from the firm said it was taking into account “the strength of local opinion” and the alternative plan offered a “pragmatic workable solution”.
But it added the option of a third turbine could still be taken up and that the two-turbine option was being offered as an alternative to the council.
A public meeting scheduled for September has been cancelled as new plans are considered by the council.
Officers say the changes to the scheme will lead to a six-week delay over the application while a new public consultation takes place.
