Family flying day to raise cash to fight turbine plan

Harborough Mail, www.harboroughmail.co.uk 16 August 2011

A group fighting plans for a wind farm near Kelmarsh have organised a family flying day to raise funds for their cause.

Families will be able to enjoy hot air balloon rides and micro-light flights during the Family Flying Picnic in Haselbech next Saturday, August 27.

The event, from 10am to 6pm, will also feature an air gun range, bouncy castle, burger and ice-cream vans and music.

Balloon rides will cost £75 per person for one hour while the micro-light flights will cost £35 per person for a 20 minute flight.

Proceeds from the event will go to a ‘Stop Kelmarsh Wind Farm’ fighting fund, to help the group campaign against Eon’s plans for six turbines on the Kelmarsh Hall estate.

Picnic and parking (£10 donation per car) is available at Haselbech Farm on the Haselbech to Cottesbrook Road – off the A508 – while the flying area will be at The Old Rectory opposite.
