Wind farm up and running after blow

Scout Moor Wind Farm is back to full operation after one of its turbines broke.

Earlier this year one of the structures on the site, which is England’s largest on-shore wind farm, had to be shut down due to heat damage as a result of a fire caused by an electrical fault.

But it has now been fixed and the blades replaced bringing the wind farm back to full operation.

Jonathan England, development director for Peel Energy, said: “It’s great to see the wind farm being restored to its full capacity.

“We thank the public for their understanding if they have experienced any disturbance during the delivery period.”

The 26-turbine wind farm became operational in 2008 and has the capacity to produce enough electricity for the average annual needs of approximately 40,000 homes throughout its 25-year lifespan.
