Residents speak against road use for wind-farm construction

LIMESTONE – A couple of residents who attended Wednesday’s Town of Carrollton meeting spoke against a proposed route through Limestone for the transport of wind turbine materials, as well as the proposed wind farm in general.

Officials from EverPower Wind Holdings Inc. had attended last month’s town meeting to discuss the possibility of obtaining a road-use agreement with town officials for the shipment of wind turbine materials. No representatives of EverPower were present at Wednesday’s meeting.

If a 29-wind turbine farm is approved by the town of Allegany for the communities of Chipmonk and Knapp Creek, EverPower hopes to ship wind turbine materials and equipment along Church Street and Nichols Run to reach their destination.

The company is considering truck travel through the area after initial proposals to haul materials through the city of Olean were thwarted by city officials.
