Plea for rethink on turbine farm

South Wales Evening Post, www.thisissouthwales.co.uk 11 August 2011

Residents in the Upper Swansea Valley claim they face having to pay the price for a wind farm in a neighbouring county.

While Carmarthenshire Council has granted planning permission to Cambrian Renewable Energy Ltd for turbines on Mynydd y Betws, access to the site will be through Pontardawe, in Neath Port Talbot.

Residents claim huge lorries travelling to the site will damage roads, slow up emergency services and reduce property prices.

A public meeting has been called for this evening to call for a rethink.

Resident Ron Williams said: “We are taking all the hassle of the wind farm yet all the benefits are going to Carmarthenshire.” The meeting is at Cefn Llan Community Hall at 7pm.
