ZUMBROTA – Nearly 200 people packed the Zumbrota VFW Thursday night to watch a documentary film called “Windfall” produced by Laura Israel, a week after about 150 filled a building in Goodhue to view the same film.
The strong response has organizers hoping to offer two more showings, with the Rochester Public Library mentioned as a potential site.
The award-winning, 83-minute video has touched a nerve with many southeastern Minnesota residents, as the situation it details in a rural New York community effectively mirrors the wind drama that has played out over the last two years in Goodhue County.
“You could have taken faces from out here (in the crowd) and put them in there (in the documentary) and they would have fit perfectly,” said Kenyon resident Bernie Overby, chairman of the Goodhue County Planning Advisory Commission. Read about it in Friday’s print edition.
