The Duxbury Alternative Energy Committee met Tuesday night to discuss plans for the construction of a wind turbine that could affect the area around the North Hill Golf Course.
The committee is awaiting a financial feasibility report for building a 200 foot tall, 450 kilowatt municipal wind turbine in the North Hill Pond area.
The committee also plans to hold a public hearing after receiving the results of the cost-benefit analysis. Whether or not it happens, the committee is preparing for great opposition to the proposal.
Committee chair Jim Goldenberg said, “I tbink we should be prepared for people to come out of the woodwork and oppose this. If it doesn’t happen, that will be great, but we should be prepared. I think it means we’ll have to mobize and do some work. We’ll have a public meeting at the end of September – early October, then see how the reaction is. We might have to get on our horses and feel like we have to promote this thing before town meeting.”
The committee is also planning to meet with the North Hill Advisory Committee to discuss the proposed wind turbine.
