Wainfleet wind objections rise

A tireless wind farm opposition group recruited a high profile ally when more than a thousand letters of objection were presented to local MP Mark Simmonds.

Wainfleet Wind Turbine Action Group (WWTAG) met with the MP for Boston and Skegness at the site proposed for four 127 metre high turbines, on Friday.

The opposition group had collected the substantial number of letters from local residents, concerned at the impact posed by RWE npower renewables’ application.

After the meeting Mr Simmonds said: “The sheer volume of letters that I have been presented with is a credit to the local community and I am confident that the level of these opposition to these proposals will go a long way to preventing them from becoming reality.

“I have consistently lobbied against any inappropriate infrastructure being built across our beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and will continue to do so.”

WWTAG chairman Melvin Grosvenor, was pleased to have gained the political support of MR Simmonds and he, along with the rest of WWTAG will continue to object to the plans.

“We were extremely happy that he took the time to come down and he seemed visibly shocked by the number of objections that have been raised.

“I believe there are even more letters still being submitted – it shows a very clear message to RWE that it is the wrong place to put a wind farm.”
