Help us fight these wind turbines – plea

Daventry Express, www.daventryexpress.co.uk 24 July 2011

Groups preparing to battle against a series of wind farm planning appeals have issued a rallying call for help.

Organisations including Stop Gap and Protect Winwick called a meeting at Watford Village Hall on Monday evening.

The groups are made up from local residents concerned by the proximity of turbines to homes and the number of applications being made.

They are currently preparing to fight appeals for wind farms at Watford Lodge and Winwick Warren, along with turbines near Kelmarsh.

Yolanda Wilcock told the meeting: “I got involved in the Stop Gap campaign several years ago when Gamesa proposed putting a turbine just a few hundred metres from my house.

“That planning application seemed to disappear but I stayed with Stop Gap because there were other turbines just as close to other people’s homes and it’s wrong, whether it’s my home or not.”

In total the groups are looking at some 102 turbines within 15 miles of Crick church, some 25 of which already have been built or given planning permission.

Mrs Wilcock said: “We need people who have knowledge in things like ecology, noise, landscape impact, archaeology and heritage, who can create photomontages and use geographic information systems, and structural engineering.

“If you or anyone you know can help, please get in touch.”

Anyone interested can email the group at stopgap@hotmail.co.uk.
