Anti-wind turbine signs go missing

By JENNIFER SCHLEICH, KINCARDINE NEWS, www.kincardinenews.com 19 July 2011

Residents of Lake Range Drive, south of Concession 10, woke up on Wednesday morning, July 13 to find more than a dozen “Stop Wind Turbine” signs missing from their properties.

“Me and my neighbours got together and put up these sings some time ago and some-one’s stolen them,” said Jim Reiche, who lives on Lake Range.

Reiche said signs have been pulled out of the ground in the past but were always left behind.

Although the anti-wind turbine signs have mysteriously disappeared, the “It’s not easy being green,” signs remain in the nearby area, leading Reiche to suspect it wasn’t just kids causing trouble.

“They’ve all reported the theft to the police,” said Reiche, whose sign wasn’t stolen because it was too far up a tree. “If my sign had been stolen I sure would be putting up another one, my neighbours will probably replace them,” he added.

The signs on Lake Range weren’t the only ones to disappear last week, signs in Kincardine Township also went missing.
