Bourne wind turbine regulation vote delayed

BOURNE – The local board of health’s vote on proposed regulations for land-based wind turbines in town was delayed once again Wednesday night.
The board decided to delay a vote after discovering copies of the proposed regulations included numerous typographical errors and formatting problems. The flaws in the document were computer-related, according to board chairwoman Kathy Peterson.
The board previously postponed a vote on the regulations during a meeting on June 22.
The proposed regulations would give the board of health authority to issue or deny permits for land-based wind turbine projects based on factors such as shadow flicker, noise and setbacks from neighboring properties. The proposed rules also would require permit applicants to notify neighboring property owners about permit hearings before the board of health.
If the proposed regulations are adopted, Bourne would be the first Cape Cod town with local health guidelines for land-based turbines.
The board decided to reschedule the vote for Tuesday at 6 p.m.
