Lobby group in disguise

We are seeing letters in many publications from a group calling themselves B.C. Citizens for Green Energy, but don’t be fooled by the name. They are very connected to the new independent power producers (IPPs) that were created under former premier Gordon Campbell.
These companies are: run-of-the-river, which produce power mainly in the spring run-off when we don’t need it; wind power, when the wind blows; and biomass, which will burn the pine beetle infestation pines and trees cut down to make way for the extra power lines to the IPPs. I believe they also support waste-toenergy.
The Crown corporation (meaning we own it) B.C. Transmission is forced, by the Liberals, to run power lines to the IPPs. Crown corporation B.C. Hydro (we own that, too) is forced to buy the power these IPPs can’t sell privately, at top dollar.
Simply put: B.C. citizens are subsidizing the IPPs through rate increases B.C. Hydro now has to make.
All of this was put in place by the B.C. Liberals and their bureaucrats, many of whom left their positions to work for the companies they helped create.
Now you know who the B.C. Citizens for Green Energy are: a Liberal and IPP rah-rah group.
