news.stv.tv 7 July 2011

Plans have been lodged for a major wind farm development in the Borders.

German-owned E.ON Climate & Renewables want to build 12 turbines measuring 420 feet in heigh at Corsbie Moor near Lauder.

They originally wanted to erect 21 turbines reaching 126.5 metres to the tip on the farm land but have revised their plans following objections from local residents.

The application will be considered by Scottish Borders Council’s planning and development committee within the next few months.

Meanwhile, applications are in the pipeline for another two wind farms in the south of the Borders region.

Renewable energy firm Infinis Wind Holdings Ltd are planning up to 20 turbines, each 125 metres high from base to blade tip, on a site near Hermitage Castle, seven miles north east of Newcastleton.

The firm has also confirmed it intends lodging an application for 13 turbines – each 100 metres high – at Cummings Hill in the Jed Valley next summer.
