Wind farm firm denies lack of consultation

ABC News, www.abc.net.au 4 July 2011

A company proposing a wind farm at Keyneton near the Barossa Valley says there has been extensive consultation with the community.

A recently-formed group opposed to the wind farm says it was told only last month that Pacific Hydro wanted planning approval.

Andrew Richards from Pacific Hydro says it spoke initially with people within a three-kilometre radius of the proposed site and wanted to consult more widely once its plan was firmer.

“How far out do you start telling people about something that may change? That’s one of our issues, in that through that process of consultation with people who will be living closest to it, there will be changes and so we could be out there every three months telling people about the changes to the project and that’s going to confuse people,” he said.
