Wildlife crimes

The Scotsman, scotsman.com 2 July 2011

It would be appalling if the government was to award a £21 million wind farm to an estate like Cabrach and Glenfiddich, which does not have a good record for wildlife crime (Magazine, 25 June).

To do so would send a very clear message to other large landowners that the quickest way to make money is get rid of the protected wildlife and apply to build a wind farm.

Successive government ministers, the RSPB and wildlife bodies have spoken out strongly against wildlife crime, whether it be badger baiting or poisoning rare birds. As a nation we will look like complete hypocrites in the conservation world if this estate is seen to profit from its past record.
