Plan for second wind farm

A planning application has been lodged for a twelve turbine wind farm in Derrygowna near the village of Nad, between Millstreet and Mallow.

Under planning file No 11/5276 Esk Windfarm Ltd Esk of Lissarda Business Park, Lissarda, have applied for planning with Cork County Council for 12 wind turbines with a maximum ground to top blade tip height of up to 126 metres at Esk North, Esk South , derrygowna and Glanminnane.

Ancillary structures include an 85m anemometry mast, two borrow pits, an electricity sub-station with control room, associated equipment and all ancillary site and facilitating works to existing road junctions.

The application is dated June 13 and a decision on the application is expected in August.

It emerged last week that another planning application had been lodged for an 11 turbine wind farm in the scenic Toon valley area of Mid Cork.

Enerco Energy of Lissarda Business Park, Lissarda, applied for planning for 11 wind turbines with a maximum ground to top blade tip height of 126m at Cleanrath South, Cleanrath North and Derrineanig, Macroom.
