High cost of wind farms

In his letter to the Northern Argus (June 22), Scott Thomas talks about the money injected into local communities by AGL through its wind turbine developments in the Mid North. My question is: will this money cover the cost of the destruction to the environment, the loss of birds and bats, the loss of our Mid North vistas, people being forced to leave their homes because of noise and other issues, divisions in local communities, increased risk of fire, the ill health that turbines are causing, reduction in land values and disruption to telecommunications?
All this and we still don’t have clear evidence that wind turbines are reducing green house gas emissions. What we do know is that they are destroying our rural landscapes and inflicting us with a host of other problems.
