Plans have been drawn up to construct two wind turbines at a landlfill tip.

The proposals have been put together by the Waste Recycling Group, which wants to place the turbines at its landfill site in March.

Called the Hundred Road Wind Energy Proposal, it involves the development of two turbines, each with a maximum height of 125metres to the tip of the blade, which are capable of generating enough electricity to power more than 3,000 homes.

The plans have been resubmitted to Fenland District Council.

An earlier application was withdrawn last year and concerns were voiced about the impact of the turbines on the surrounding area.

Mike Snell, head of WRG’s external affairs, said: “Studies show the proposed project will not result in any unacceptable impacts on the local environment.”
