Premier backs wind farm health inquiry

Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu says a Senate inquiry report on the effects of wind farms is in line with the State Government’s stance.

A Senate committee recommended the establishment of a medical inquiry to investigate the possible adverse health effects of wind farms.

In light of the recommendation, wind farm opponents have called for a moratorium on new developments.

Mr Baillieu says the Government has also pushed for a health inquiry.

“We had that in our policy list as well and I think it would be helpful if that was done on a broader scale and was funded,” he said.

“We’ll see how the Commonwealth Government responds to this senate committee but we believe that there is room for that sort of study to take place.”
