Hundreds of objections to Wainfleet wind farm plans submitted

Campaigners against a wind farm proposed for the Wainfleet area will today (Wednesday, June 22) be submitting hundreds of letters received in objection to the plans.

As the consultation period draws to a close for RWE npower renewables planning application, members of Wainfleet Wind Turbine Action Group claim to have had a ‘phenomenal’ response from the public rallying against the plans.

Members of the group were able to demonstrate the height of the four proposed 127 metre high turbines by launching a blimp to that height on the same site.

Following the demonstration on Saturday, June 11, the group discussed the energy firm’s proposals with visitors to the Friskney show.

WWTAG chairman Melvin Grosvenor said: “The number of people coming to the stall was tremendous and their reaction was one of huge support.

“They do not want another wind farm coming into their area because they are beginning to realise that it’s not just about these four turbines, it’s the whole coastal strip.”

Visitors to the show from as afar a field as Boston had been able to see the umanned aerial device hovering high in the sky above Wainfleet.

Many of those discussing the proposals with Mr Grosvenor and his fellow campaigners asked for advice on how to register their concerns with East Lindsey District Council.

Template letters of objection and guidance was provided to those interested and Mr Grosvenor believes the numbers of comments the group will be submitting will be equivalent to a similar campaign against a wind farm in Baumber in which 891 letters were submitted to ELDC.

The consultation period for the turbines finishes on Thursday, June 23.
