Minister to rule on wind farm

Lincolnshire Echo, www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk 20 June 2011

The construction of a wind farm in East Heckington will be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, and not the district council.

An application was made to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change in December 2009 and calls for the construction of 28 turbines at Six Hundred Farm, Six Hundred Drove, East Heckington.

During recent consultation, the firm who submitted the application, Ecotricity, stated that the application would be determined by North Kesteven District Council (NKDC).

But the authority has clarified that it is the Secretary of State who will have the final say.

NKDC’s corporate director, Karen Bradford, said: “It is not the council which will determine the application but the Secretary of State.

“As and when they consult the council on the application, North Kesteven’s response will be formed at a meeting of the planning committee where all members will be able to make a contribution.”

Ecotricity is currently undertaking public engagement consultation in respect of its plans.
