Concerns continue over wind turbines

Boorowa News, www.boorowanewsonline.com.au 16 June 2011

According to the Boorowa District Landscape Guardians (BDLG), the map [below] shows the approximate location and size of the three industrial wind turbine power stations that are proposed to be built in the area east of Boorowa and South to Yass.

The BDLG says approximately 350 wind turbines could be towering over the surrounding countryside, up to a height of 160m above ground level.

The wind developers have been negotiating with landholders to host wind turbines on their land for a number of years, but the local community has only just recently been informed of the massive industrial constructions that could fill the skyline and be seen from many kilometres away.

Despite the massive scale of the projects and repeated requests from members of the community, the three wind farm developers involved, Windlab/Suzlon, Epuron and Wind Prospects have refused to hold public forum meetings for the community to give them the opportunity to have their questions answered regarding the projects and the impacts that they will have on landholders and residents of Boorowa, the BDLG says.
